How to enable location services on chrome

If you are using the internet for a while then you probably have come across popup notification saying “XYZ-Site wants to know your location” prompting you to Allow or block. In some cases, It is an important request, as determining your location will provide you more targetted service based on your locality. For instance, e-commerce websites use location service to calculate shipping prices.

Chrome uses geolocation services to get an estimate of where you are and then share the information with the website via Google location service.

Though it looks good, you may want to control location services on chrome browser either for privacy concerns or you’re just tired of seeing that annoying pop-up notification. Here’s how to enable location services on chrome.

How to Enable Location Services on Chrome

Step 1 – Open Google Chrome browser on your computer.

Step 2 – Click on the Chrome menu (⋮ icon) It’ll be appearing at the top-right corner of your browser.

Step 3 – Now Click on Settings.

Step 7 – Now by default “Ask before accessing (recommended)” switch will be enabled and that’s the reason why everytime you visit a site displays you popup notification to allow or block location. If you don’t want your browser to display that notification every time then you can click the blue “Ask before accessing (recommended)” switch and it will turn into grey. Now this will ensure that any site that requests for your location will automatically have access to it.

How to enable location on Google chrome in iPhone

Step 1: Go to the “settings” of your iPhone.

Step 2: Now Scroll down to the list of apps appearing near the bottom of the settings page and Tap on “Chrome.”

Step 3: Now tap on the “Location” option appearing at top of the screen.

Step 4: Select “While Using the App” this option will ensure that Google will use your location only when you are using the app, not while the app is closed.

You can also choose Never option if you don’t want the Chrome browser to share your location with any website.

Step 1 – Open Google Chrome browser on your android phone.

Step 2 – Tap on the Vertical three-dot icon appearing at the top right corner of your mobile screen, Doing so prompts a drop-down menu.

Step 3 – Tap on the Settings.

Step 4 – Tap on the Site settings appearing under the Advance section.

Step 5 – Now tap on Location appearing at the top of the page.

Step 6 – Tap the grey location switch and it will turn into blue. This means now Google will now track your Android’s location while you use the Chrome app.
